Concept 概念

As is described by Guy Debord in The Landscape Society, “In societies where modern conditions of production prevail, all of life presents itself as an immense accumulation of spectacles. Everything that was directly lived has moved away into a representation.” In the kingdom of landscape, the “reality” splits into “representation”, becoming the material of consumerism. 
This work is a humorous expression of the vigilance of the condition by applying the representation of Buddha in consumerist production. Buddha is religious and serious, standing for mercy and divinity. But consumerism has dismantled its connotation and utilized the appearances in commercial acts or products such as live commerce of trash cans, condoms, grenades, mahjong, etc. Mercy and benevolence fall into a commercial gimmick. Even a powerful Buddha cannot escape the fate of being a part of the magic landscape society.


正如盖伊·德波(Guy Debord)在《景观社会》中所述,“在现代生产条件占主导地位的社会中,所有生活呈现为一大堆景观的堆积。所有直接经历的事物都已转变成代表性的形式。”在景观的王国里,“现实”分裂为“代表性”,成为消费主义的材料。
这项作品通过应用佛陀形象在消费主义生产中的表现,幽默地表达了对这种状况的警觉。佛陀是宗教性的和严肃的,代表着慈悲和神性。但消费主义已经拆解了其内涵,并利用其外观在商业行为或产品中,如垃圾桶、避孕套、手榴弹、麻将等的直播销售。慈悲和仁爱沦为商业噱头。即便是强大的佛陀也无法逃脱成为魔幻景观社会一部分的命运。
